Self-guided trail cycle to Havelock North with return transferDifficulty grading: Easy
Departing the port village of Ahuriri you cycle around the port to the Napier CBD, a world renowned Art Deco treasure. Spend some time enjoying the unique facades of these beautiful buildings before continuing south following Marine Parade with spectacular views across the sea to Cape Kidnappers.
After travelling approx. 15km you arrive in the village of Clive, a great place for a refreshment stop. Continuing on the trail through the East Clive wetlands, home to numerous black swans and wading birds, you eventually arrive at Black Bridge near the mouth of the Tuki Tuki River. At this point you turn inland and ride the river stopbank through beautiful orchard country to Havelock North.
A visit to Te Mata Estate and Black Barn Vineyards is a ‘must’ on the final leg into the village centre where you can immerse yourself in the many boutique stores and cafes before your return transfer.

“We had a lovey day cycling 35 kms along the shore and through the vineyards to our lunchtime destination. We were picked up from our accommodation and given good quality bikes and helmets and a map to help us navigate. The weather was good and it was great fun with a wonderful Lunch at The Black Barn Vineyard with wine tasting and shopping before we were picked up and returned to our accommodation. Well worth it.” Christine – U.K. – January 2016
