Self-guided - Coastline, Orchards, Vineyards & the Ahuriri Estuary - Many of the regions highlights in one day!Difficulty grading: Easy
Departing the port village of Ahuriri you cycle around the port to the Napier CBD, a world renowned Art Deco treasure. Enjoy the unique facades of these beautiful buildings before continuing south, following Marine Parade with spectacular views across the sea to Cape Kidnappers.
After travelling approx. 12kms you turn inland at Awatoto and follow the trail along the Tutaekuri River stopbank to the suburb of Taradale. The countryside is very typical of the Hawke’s Bay as you overlook orchards, vineyards and market gardens whilst sharing the trail with wandering cows.
On arrival in Taradale there’s the option to visit the Silky Oaks Chocolate Factory, the historic Otatara Maori Pa site and the fine wineries of Church Rd and the Mission Estate, N.Z.’s oldest winery.
The final part of your ride takes you around the Ahuriri Estuary Wildlife Reserve, ending a really diverse day sampling some of the best highlights of our region.

“This company which hires out bikes for various lengths of time is very well organised, professional and reliable. We have biked with them several times and each time was excellent. The bikes are well maintained and support is available if required. The cycling tracks in the Bay are very flat and suitable for any level of cyclist. It’s beautiful to ride along by the ocean on a summers day. You can stop at Cafes or winery’s along the way too. Highly recommend!” Christine – Auckland – January 2016
