With mostly flat terrain, fantastic attractions, great food and gorgeous weather, Hawke’s Bay is brilliant for biking at any time of year. Why not try a 4 day cycle tour in May? The Hawke’s Bay weather is calm and settled throughout the year – you can be sure of clear, sunny days, if a bit crisp! Our 4 day tour takes in the highlights of this region and includes a gannet tour, a night at the Cape Coast town of Te Awanga and rides past many acclaimed wineries.

Tākaro Trails supports ‘The Tiaki Promise‘, a commitment to care for New Zealand, for now and for future generations. Tiaki means to ‘care for people and place’ so we ask our cyclists to act as guardians during their visit to our beautiful region. Care for the land, sea and nature. Tread lightly and leave no trace. Be safe, respect culture and cycle with an open heart and mind. Together we can help protect and preserve our precious home.
“Takaro delivers 3 days of cycling fun” – As reviewed on Tripadvisor January 2017
“In September 2016, Takaro Trails won the Hawkes Bay Supreme Tourism award. If the 3 day cycling trip that my son and I did was anything to go by, this was well-deserved indeed. The bikes: great quality and perfectly suited to the job, the panniers were well-designed and looked brand new, bike tools and souvenir water bottles provided. Service: pre-reading provided, great communication, tips on things to do along the way, booking restaurants no trouble, bags transported. I had my own bike (but didn’t use it) and Jenny’s team even serviced it for me while we were on the ride! Accommodation: we chose the upper end option and it was sublime – St. Andrews Escape and Ormlie Lodge. Trails: While mainly flat, battling the wind and the distances probably demands slightly better that average fitness but no particular skill beyond being able to ride a bike. Great landscape diversity and plenty of side trip options. Overall: a fine outfit run by a highly competent, friendly professional who really knows how to make her customers happy. Had to buy the T-shirt.”
