Stunning, self-guided cycling finished off with a 3 hour guided Cape Kidnappers Safari. The ultimate Hawke's Bay adventure!Difficulty grading: Easy
Starting your cycle at the historic port village of Ahuriri you follow the coast to the Napier CBD, a world-renowned Art Deco treasure. Continuing south the cycling is easy on scenic, off-road trails. On reaching the settlement of Clive the trail takes you through a unique wetlands area with many coastal birds before arriving in communities of Haumoana and Te Awanga.
There’s time for a quick visit to the acclaimed wineries of Elephant Hill and Clearview Estate, and to enjoy the picnic lunch you will be provided with, before joining your 3 hour Overland Safari to see the Gannet Colony of Cape Kidnappers. As the largest, most accessible mainland gannet colony in the world, Cape Kidnappers is home to 20,000 gannets from the Booby family with their distinctive black eye markings and a pale gold crown. Your safari takes you up close to these amazing birds, with their six foot wing span, as they swoop, dive and bring fish back to their young.
At the end of your safari you will be transferred back to Ahuriri.

“On a bike on a good day you can cover so much more than on foot, and enjoy your time in the Hawkes Bay Garden of Paradise so much more directly. Takaro Trails is tuned into that, aided by the network of bike trails covering the region. It offers also a very flexible approach to customer needs, for example, delivering bikes to you or arranging pick-up from their place in Ahuriri, so that you can make the most of the network. Service by owner and staff was excellent.” Geoff – Canberra – February 2016
