Our Responsibility

In any adventure activity there is an element of risk involved. Takaro Trails Ltd take all practicable steps to minimise potential dangers by providing safety equipment (helmets), safe routes and well-maintained bikes.

Customer Responsibility

The customer agrees to:
– the care and safekeeping of all equipment hired from Takaro Trails for the duration of the hire. If damage is deemed to be beyond general wear and tear and more customer neglect, you will be contacted and invoiced to cover the cost to return the bike and all extra equipment to the order in which you initially received it.
– Children must be accompanied by an adult

– All cyclists must adhere to the NZ road code at all times, including adults ensuring that any child (under 15 years) follow these rules too.
– accept full responsibility for personal medical suitability to take part in this cycle tour and have declared any medical information important that is relevant.

Booking Cancellations for Day Tours

Payment is required at the time of booking or if choosing to pay via bank deposit must be paid by 2 days before tour date. Takaro will send you a payment request if not paid at the time of booking.

Should you cancel within 48 hours of tour, no refund given – however, a credit can be applied to a future booking upon request. Please talk to us if you think the weather is not looking good, we may be able to offer alternatives.

Cancelling outside of 48 hours of tour is eligible for a 100% refund less booking and credit card fees.

Should we cancel 100% of payment made will be refunded.

Booking Cancellations for 2 Day Baycation Tours

Once tour booking is confirmed, full payment is required by deadline of 14 days before tour date. Takaro will send a payment request.

Cancellations within 14 days prior to your tour means 100% of your tour cost is lost except in exceptional circumstances (up to the discretion of the tour operator).  A credit can be applied to a future booking upon request (NOTE: all credits expire after 6 months, which means you have 6 months to rebook). Please talk to us if you think the weather is not looking good, we may be able to offer alternatives.

If cancelling before 14 days prior to departure Takaro keeps all tour costs paid as a credit and apply to any future tour bookings (NOTE: all credits expire after 6 months from tour cancellation date, which means you have 6 months to rebook) OR you can choose to receive a refund less the deposit of $100 per person (non-refundable booking fee) and credit card fees   

Booking Cancellations for 3 Day + Multiday Tours

To confirm tour booking, a nonrefundable deposit/booking fee of $100 per person is to be paid.

The balance of tour payment is required by deadline of 7 days before tour date. Takaro will send you a payment request as a reminder.

Customer Database Privacy Policy

We collect personal information from you via our booking process, including information about your:

  • name and
  • contact information

We collect your personal information in order to let you know about our news and upcoming specials.

Providing some information is optional. If you choose not to enter email address, we’ll be unable to inform you of our special deals. We keep your information safe by storing it in a locked database and only allowing certain staff to access it .

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong.
